Description

This is a very scarce 1953 Chrysler Windsor Town & Country station wagon. I believe this car is quite similar to the 1949 through 1954 Chryslers but I am certainly no expert on these cars so please help my out here if you possibly can.
This car can certainly be restored or it might make a wonderful parts car if you are restoring a rusty car like this.
This car is very complete except for the external "Town & Country" emblems and a few lesser parts. The engine compartment is very complete except for the radiator but the engine is stuck so this gem is not in good running condition at this time. The transmission appears to be a standard 3 speed unit rather than the optional "FLUID DRIVE".
There is some minor rust in the driver's floor area around the pedals. This is not due to salt being used on the roads because Montana did not use salt back when this car was being driven. I believe this rust is normally due to driver's packing snow and rain in on their feet. It they don't have a rubber floor mat to keep the carpet dry, the carpet is wet a lot of the time which promotes rusting of the floor sheet metal.
There are a few small rust holes in the front of the left rocker panel, in the spare tire well and in the bottom of the tailgate. I believe this car sat in a wrecking yard here in relatively dry Montana for many years. The rear window was missing so snow and rain blew inside the rear compartment and damaged the plywood rear upper floor and the plywood panels on both sides of the rear compartment. The chrome plated floor wear strips and the rest of the metal hardware is still very good and can be easily restored.
